REQUIREMENTS

 

THERE SHALL BE FOUR CATEGORIES OF INDUCTION ATHLETE, BUILDER, COACH, AND PRESIDENT:

 
ATHLETE

PURPOSE: To recognize the achievements of outstanding athletes


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:


The candidate must
1.  Have represented sport with distinction in athletic competition either in or out of Ontario, and brought great credit to the sport of football;
2. Have been born in Ontario, or have resided in Ontario during the period for which outstanding performance is claimed.
3. Have a minimum playing time of three seasons in the OVFL
4.Athlete’s achievements within the OVFL league which may include records, above average statistics for their position, all star selections and mvp nominations.

  1. Character, leadership and sportsmanship on and off the field
COACH

PURPOSE: To recognize the contribution, leadership and abilities of those individuals who coached football in the OVFL


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:


The candidate must:
1. have reached the minimum age of 45 years of age
2.   have coached in the OVFL for a minimum of 5 years at the Junior or Varsity level
3. have made a significant contribution to the OVFL
4. have shown character, dedication and sportsmanship to the league, officials, opponents, and players
5.   have made a significant contributions to players development with in the OVFL and those pursuing moving to the next level of footbal

PRESIDENT

PURPOSE: To recognize the contribution, leadership and abilities of those individuals who develop member organizations with in the OVFL


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:


The candidate must:
1.have been a member of the OVFL for a minimum of 4 years who has been an executive member of an OVFL member organization that have made a significant contributions to football with in there association and that of the OVFL.
2. have been a member who shows character, dedication, and support to the league
3. have been a member that are recognized for excellence through their community involvement with in there football community.
4. have represented sport with distinction in athletic competition in Ontario, and brought great credit to the sport of football.

BUILDER

PURPOSE: To recognize the contribution, leadership and abilities of those individuals who have participate in the development and organization of the OVFL.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:


The candidate must:
1. have demonstrated outstanding service to the OVFL extending over a period of a minimum of  five years in football.
2.   have demonstrated leadership in the football community;
3. have been active in any capacity serving football, such as: coach, trainer, administrator, manager, governor, president with in the OVFL 
4. have been born in Ontario, or have resided in Ontario during the period for which the individual’s outstanding contribution is claimed.
5.   have been a member of the OVFL and served on the OVFL Management board for a minimum of 4 years.

Held records on kick & punt returns and also receiving yards, which stood for two seasons Played four seasons with the University of Guelph Gryphons…was a two time OUA First Team All-Star at wide receiver…2002 & 2001 named an OUA first team All-Star at WR… awarded the Gryphons’ MVP award…finished 6th in the CIS and 4th in the OUA with 690 yards receiving on 42 catches with four touchdowns…also returned 31 punts for 235 yards and 16 kickoffs for 192 yards… Selected by the Argonauts in the 6th round (48th overall) of the 2003 CFL Canadian College Draft. Dressed as a backup SB or WR in 16 games with Argos and was part of the team’s Grey Cup victory in 2004.
A philosophy major, Mike is taking courses to complete his degree at the University of Guelph in the off-season. He is a regular player on the Argos’ charity hockey team, the Frozen Boatmen, and the charity basketball team, the Courtside Boatmen. Helps outs with Guelph Minor with guest appearances.
