The Club franchise catchment area draws players from Frontenac, Hastings, Lanark, Leeds, Lennox and Prince Edward counties. League play runs from late May through August. The Junior and Varsity teams' main schedule pits the Grenadiers against eastern Ontario opponents and cross-over games with western Ontario teams leading to a provincial title championship game.
The teams' home games are played at Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Kingston.
The Club's name and logo reflect the influence of the United Empire Loyalist (UEL) and historic military tradition of Limestone and the surrounding regions in our OVFL catchment area.
The Club was named after a company of Grenadiers in the British 89th Regiment of Foot. The regiment was deployed to Upper Canada at the outset of the War of 1812-1814. The 89th had suffered heavy casualties on the Iberian Peninsula during the Napoleonic Wars of 1808-1814. Disembarking at Halifax, and making a remarkable journey inland, segments of the 89th garrisoned at Kingston in the spring of 1813. The balance of the regiment moved on to Niagara.
The Kingston complement fought at the Battle of Crysler's Farm (November 11th, 1813) near Prescott.
